D-12 Grain cultivation efforts

Kaneko Golden, developed by Ushigorō Kaneko in the 1890s, was the first barley for beer brewing cultivated in Japan, and it became the primary barley species used to produce Japanese beer and whisky. At Kiuchi Brewing and Distilling, we are reviving the cultivation of that classic grain. In the garden here at the Yasato Distillery, we grow barley from spring to early summer and buckwheat as a secondary crop from summer to fall.
